"So, the War of 1812 then."

Mrs. Springs continued on with her horribly pointless lecture about a war that no one really cared a lot about.
îGood Lord, the fact that ANYONE can be this boring is just disturbing,î thought Dawn as she stared down at her desk.
ìSheís probably a demon. Yep, thatís it. Sheís a demon-teacher-person-thingy that has the power to drive us to insanityî
She could only help but grin at her thoughts.

BBRRRINGGGGGGGALINGG!!! The bell announced the end of 3nd period and the silent halls of Sunnydale High were filled with the sounds of lockers and students. Dawn closed her eyes and sighed a good sigh, feeling proud of herself for getting through another day of IB U.S. History without committing suicide with her pencil. Plus, it was Friday, which meant a whole 2 days without seeing or hearing anything of her favorite teacher. As soon as she left the classroom, Chloe was walking in stride along with her.
ìHey, you! Survived yet another day, did ya?î Chloe added a friendly nudge along with her perky comment, reminding Dawn of why they were such good friends.
ìYep!î Dawn answered in a relieving tone. ìBut there were some casualties. Barry Newman was face down on his desk drooling all over the place when she walked to the back of the room and just politely handed him an extra assignment. She said that if he was sleeping, he obviously knew all the material already, and if he knew so much, then he wouldnít have a problem writing a paper on the causes and effects of the war and making a presentation to the class. We all felt bad for ëem.î
ìBut you know what that means donít you? Thatís like 45 minutes that you donít have to hear HER. Iíd say Barry is doing you and the rest of your class a favor. Iíd consider a medal, myself. Silver, cause gold is so out.î Chloe grinned. She could always make you see the softer side of Sears.
ìOh, so true.î Dawn was all smiles as she came to the door of her last class of the day, art. Because Chloe had English, she just gave an exaggerated wave and kept walking, eventually greeted by Anna, another friend. Upon walking into the classroom, Dawn found everything pretty normal. Jacob and Seth were over by the window, making approving whistles at girls walking by, Katie and Jen were sitting down in their seats finishing the conversation they had been having at lunch, and Angie was looking into her compact mirror, making sure her features hadnít changed from 2 seconds ago. Everyone else was just milling about, savoring their free time before the tardy bell rang. So all was the norm. Except for one thing. Up in front, at Mr. Lombardís desk was a girl that Dawn had never seen before. They seemed to be having quite an amusing conversation as Mr. Lombard was laughing almost constantly; the girl obviously had a rare gift of humor, he never laughed. . . ever.
ìOkay, so whoís that?î Dawn had walked over to Greg, the gossip queen . . but a manly queen.
ìI have no idea, but damnÖ.î Greg took the opportunity during his pause to check out the blonde at the front. ìI know WHAT she is, and thatís mad Hott!î Dawn just scoffed at Gregís clichÈ comment as she, herself, took the opportunity to really get the visual. She was about Dawnís height, slightly smaller, but not even by an inch. Her blonde hair was layered just slightly past her shoulders and was highlighted, creating a dark and light blonde contrast. She had her own style, wearing a cute pair of skate shoes with a very short pair of khaki shorts, which revealed a pair of nicely tanned legs. Her top was a verrrrry fitting white one, through which you could slightly see the lines of a tank she wore underneath. Dawn noticed though that even though this girl had on a second layer, you could make out her abdominal musclesÖall 4 of em, making it obvious that this girl was no couch potato. In fact, this girl was no carbohydrate at all, and had nothing to do with living room furniture.
ìWhoahÖî Dawn approved outloud, getting Gregís attention.
ìWhat?î He wasnít sure what she was whoah-ing. He secretly hoped that the whoah-age was directed at him, but he was instantly let down.
ìWhat? I didnít say anything..î
ìYeah, you did. You just went all ëwhoahí on me.î
ìNo, I didnít.î
ìUmm, Iím not deaf here. You definitely did a ëwhoahí.î
Dawn ignored his little childish battle, and eventually Greg went back to popping his knuckles.
Dawn thought to herself, ìokayÖI DID whoah, But why? I meanÖit was an accident. I..uh..no. I mean, I DID whoah on purpose, but it was cause I was just a little shocked atÖ thatÖOUTFIT. Yeah, it was totally the outfit. The shirt in all its white-ness just threw me off. YeahÖî But as she thought she had convinced herself, the nameless girl turned around, smiling, and was now looking out at the rest of the class.
ìOh. My. God. Look at those eyes! That is so not fair! Who has eyes like that? I mean, thereís no possible way that that blue is natural.î Once again, Dawn freaked herself out. Why was she so captivated with this new studentÖthis newÖgirl? She couldnít help but stare at those eyes though.
ìMr. SummersÖwould you like to sit, or are we going to use you as our portrait model today?î Mr. Lombard was looking directly at Dawn.
ìHuh?...the bell hasnít even Öî Looking around and finding everyone in their seats, she realized that the bell had done itís ring, and the class had done itsÖsit. ìI meant uhhÖIím going to sit down now because this is just embarrassing.î Dawn slid into her chair wondering how on earth she didnít hear the bell. The freaking thing made Mrs. Addams go deaf last semesterÖitís dangerously loud. She heard a quiet laugh coming from the front of the classroom, which just furthered her baddage of a feeling. She looked up, noticing that it was coming from ëherí, but instead of making Dawn mad, it made her feel a lot better. The girl was looking at her in a friendly way, making it obvious that she was laughing at what she had said, thinking it funny.
ìOh my god, have you ever heard such an adorable laugh? And that smile. Itís like perfect. No fair, again.î Dawn found herself returning the smile and realized that she had this weird feeling in her stomach. But it definitely was a good weird. She had butterfliesÖ
